Privacy notice
What we collect when you ask us for a quote, what we do with it and how to get it deleted.
This is a draft. The wording below is a plain-English starting point written by us, not signed-off policy. ES Group will replace it with its own wording after legal review, and the ICO registration and review date on this page are marked TO CONFIRM until then.
What this covers
This notice covers the information you give us through this website, by email or over the phone when you ask about solar panels, battery storage or an EV charger.
It is written for people enquiring about work on their home or their premises. It does not cover anything we hold about our own staff or suppliers.
What we collect and why
The quote form asks for your name, your email address, your phone number, your postcode and a short description of what you are after. You can also attach a recent electricity bill, which tells us what you use and what you pay.
We collect it for one purpose: to work out whether we can help, to put a number in front of you and to reply to you. We do not use it to build a profile and we do not add you to a marketing list off the back of an enquiry.
- Name, so we know who we are talking to
- Email and phone, so we can send the quote and arrange a survey
- Postcode, so we can check the address is in our area and look at the roof
- Your electricity bill, if you send one, so the first estimate is based on your real usage
Where it goes
Form submissions are delivered to our own inbox through a transactional email provider, which handles the sending on our behalf and stores the message in transit. Our email and our quoting records sit with the software suppliers we use to run the business.
We do not sell your details and we do not pass them to lead brokers or comparison sites. The only time an enquiry leaves our hands is when the work needs it, for example a network operator application for your grid connection or a subcontractor for scaffolding, and then only the detail that job needs.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not turn into jobs are deleted. Records of work we have actually carried out are kept longer, because certification, warranty and tax obligations all require it.
The exact retention period is TO CONFIRM, pending ES Group's own retention policy and legal review. We would rather leave that blank here than publish a number we have not committed to internally.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to us holding it at all. Email us and we will deal with it. We will not ask you to justify the request.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, which is the UK regulator for data protection. Our registration reference is ICO registration reference TO CONFIRM.
Changes to this notice
When what we collect or where it goes changes, we change this page. If we ever add analytics or advertising tags we will say so here and on the cookies page first.
